Paperless Courtrooms

Many a tree is killed each year supplying legal systems around the world with reams of paper. However, courts are taking steps toward becoming paperless, as evidenced by Germany's effort to create a paperless legal process. Like the US, Germany has a national e-goverment initiative that is encouraging electronic processing of legal, tax and other documentation. Through the Internet, Germans will be able to file court petitions and pleadings online.
